OUR WORK

Learn it, Use it, Own it!

Our young people dive into the world of community leadership.

Youth Employment

SRTM employs youth ages 14+ as interns and youth workers to build their skills in communication, team work, and leadership.

  • Youth hired for SRTM summer work program work at least 20 hours per week from July-August.
  • Interns work from October-May for school credit and volunteer hours

Programs Overview

Social Responsibility Through Me has various programs to engage the youth with; from entrepreneurship to leadership programs. Our goal is to equip our community’s young people with activities and programs that give them the best chance of becoming future community leaders.

Students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in programs based around learning essential skills, taking part in the community, gaining community pride, promoting academic achievement, and personal growth.

Students learn various legal issues facing youth and construct ways to solve these issues by working together and lobbying for youth programs to be expanded through the state to change outcomes for youth in the State of NJ and reduce the amount of youth who get incarcerated.

SRTM aims to bridge the gap between high school and college students to potential employers, fostering meaningful connections and opening doors to future career opportunities for students ages 14-24.

Students have the opportunity to explore their personal interests during SLT. SLT allows students to develop programs with peers to pursue as a collective to complete task and leadership goals that benefit the local community. SLT activities include volunteering, letter campaigns, advocating, organizing, and more.

Students participate in weekly sessions where they learn about international topics/issues and discuss possible solutions to real world problems. This events culminates with a conference and sessions that are youth led with various participants throughout the state.

Students who participate meet weekly to discuss opportunities to learn more about State and Local government. Students will either write a bill that is related to an area of interest and community change, or join the legislative body to debate on the validity of laws and Bills that get written by students in the program.
