Advocates for Justice Program partners with Rutgers University to teach youth about issues facing juveniles within the legal system.
Objectives
The goal of this program is to help youth identify how to navigate the legal system and identify issues that they want to bring to light within their community. Also to bring opportunities for youth to fundraise and lead solutions to bring awareness to youth injustice that exist within the legal system for youth of color.
Programs available
Youth Leadership
Objective: Encourage participants to develop leardership skills.
This program equips youth with leadership skills through workshops on public speaking, critical thinking, and civic engagement. Participants have gone on to lead school clubs, initiate community projects, and represent their peers in local youth councils.
Advocacy Training
Objective: Train youth participants to advocate for issues they care about.
We offer training sessions that teach youth how to effectively advocate for issues they care about, such as environmental sustainability and social justice.
Juvenile Justice
Objective: Learn about various legal issues facing youth and construct ways to solve these issues.
Our Youth 4 Justice Program Students learn various legal issues facing youth and construct ways to solve these issues by working together and lobbying for youth programs to be expanded and change outcomes for youth that reduce the amount of youth who are incarcerated.
Environmental Justice
Objective: Learn about the harm of pollution in the environment and learn about solutions to prevent it from getting worse.
Youth participate in environmental clubs, Air quality monitoring, and various employment and activities around environmental justice.
